As a Loan Manager in Training (LMIT) you’ll be assigned to a dealership where you’ll work directly with an experienced Loan Manager who will act as your very own mentor, providing you with valuable insight and hands-on experience in every operating unit at DriveTime—finance, sales, management, inventory, auctions and more. If you have high personal standards and believe a workplace can be both productive and fun, you’ll feel right at home as a Loan Manager.
We’ll count on you to use your collections/loan experience and your winning people skills to head up a successful dealership-based collections team. Your goal: ensure excellent customer service while controlling charge-offs by controlling delinquency—and limiting the number of higher delinquency accounts that roll over to our National call center.
The details:
- Hire, train and motivate your staff, by providing the feedback and guidance they need to deliver excellent customer service while meeting loan servicing goals.
- Monitor and review your team’s work to ensure it’s effective and accurate, finding ways to help them improve and grow.
- Establish partnerships with the General Manager, Inspection Center, Loan Review, and National Collections Center.
- Work with the GM on significant credit and collections functions (mechanical issues, unwinds, bounced downs, 1st payment defaults, meet and greets, lot drops, voluntary repossessions).
- Use your excellent problem solving skills when people attempt to voluntarily surrender their cars. Help them keep their cars while maintaining payments.
- Review approved loans, ensure meet and greets are conducted, handle manager talk-offs, or elevated calls.
- Document, analyze, and resolve customer collection issues.
- Monitor work plans, adjust staffing levels and create strategies to meet goals.
- Participate in all unwind and unwind/rewind decisions.
- Conduct counsels with past due customers as needed via telephone or when customers visit the dealership and more.
The requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent (college ideal).
- 3+ years of experience in automotive related collection/credit.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Bankruptcy laws, Repossession laws, Sate and Federal collection laws, Regulated lending laws, Consumer laws, Commercial Codes, Impound laws, Immigration laws, Governmental procedures, personnel laws.
- Knowledge of all facets of collection activities, including when and how to use various collection tools and strategies.
- Excellent time management, communication and mentoring/training skills.
- Must be self-motivated with strong decision making and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to interact with customers, managers and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.
- PC skills (Microsoft Office).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to recognize financial implications of business decisions and strategy.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, meeting deadlines, due dates, commitments and schedules.
- Some underwriting or buying experience preferred.
- Work involves repetitive motion associated with operating a keyboard and/or 10-key pad with a minimum of physical effort in an office setting.
- A combination of experience and education that is equivalent to the requirements above will also be considered.
- Last but not least, you’ll definitely need to pass a drug test and a background check.
