DriveTime, the largest integrated used car sales and finance company in the country serving customers with less than perfect credit, received the San Bernardino County Education Medal of Honor in recognition of their contributions to public education in school districts throughout the county. DriveTime was announced as the winner, among dozens of other finalists, at a banquet held last night in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
The company was nominated by the Ontario-Montclair School District for their work with Howard Elementary School. DriveTime partnered with Howard Elementary two years ago through the company’s SchoolTime program.
“It’s an honor to be recognized,” says Kathie Driscoll, Director of DriveTime’s SchoolTime program. “However, the best part of our partnership with Howard Elementary is watching the students grow, learn, and achieve greatness.”
SchoolTime began in 2004 as a way for DriveTime employees to become more involved in their communities. SchoolTime volunteers enter into long-term partnerships with at least one school in their area and commit to donating time and resources to the school throughout the year. SchoolTime schools must meet specific criteria in order to qualify including diverse demographics, a large percentage of English-as-a-Second language students, and 80% or more of the students qualify for free lunch.
DriveTime currently partners with 17 schools across the country, including Lincoln Elementary in Mesa and the Gateway School in Phoenix.
